The New English Pre-intermediate course is for
English language students who have basic knowledge of English.

At this level the student practices maintaining a conversation and expressing ideas. Also the student learns how to deal with problem situations where unpredictable language is used.

Pre-intermediate students are past the beginner and elementary stages and are now ready to start communicating more efficiently.

The Pre-intermediate NEF course book focuses on high-frequency vocabulary, and also on speaking activities, pronounciation and grammar.

The course also concentrates on a variety of listening tasks which practice listening for gist and detail and general comprehension.

In this English course, students will learn:

• To understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
• To deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
• To produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.
• To describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

You the teacher of Pre-intermediate NEF will need the NEF Pre-intermediate student's book, the NEF Pre-intermediate teacher's book, the NEF Pre-intermediate workbook, and also the NEF Pre-intermediate class audio.

All the student will need are the NEF Pre-intermediate student's book and the NEF Pre-intermediate workbook.
